Pediatric Tuberculosis Outpatient Clinic

The Pediatric Infectious Diseases Unit is also operating a specialized tuberculosis outpatient clinic, which was established in 1981 by the Assistant Professor P. Spyridis. The TB clinic, which is operated by the unit’s personnel, is taking care of about 800-1000 children each year and covers the needs of 80% of the population of Attica, central and southern Greece.

In all these years, more than 7000 children with tuberculosis or latent tuberculosis have been cared for and more than 11000 children have been referred for reading of their Mantoux tuberculin skin test. Additionally, the TB clinic has cared for more than 1000 children with a BCG vaccine complication and 100-130 children with an infection due to environmental mycobacteria.

The TB outpatient clinic is open every Thursday, from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm and can be found on the 2nd floor of the 3rd wing of the hospital.
